In a van...down by the river

Being in a band can be a fun and challenging experience for anyone. One of the funnest and most stressful parts of being in a band is traveling. Everyone dreams of having a giant tour bus with a giant trailer behind them and just being able to sleep in their comfy bunk bed or play the xbox (cause it's way better that PS3) or heck, even take a shower while they wait to arrive at the next venue. But let's get real for a minute, how often do you hear of your buddies saying "Yea, you can ride with us in the tour bus". The reality is that you're trying to call everyone you know that has a truck with a hitch so you can pull your trailer that's falling apart...and you still feel lucky to have a trailer when you know everyone else is piling up their equipment in the same SUV they're riding in.

Normal people riding down the road always stop and stare at the bright red Corvette or at the blacked out Land Rover that rides by but if you're in a band, the thing that catches your attention the most is a plain, white, shiny Chevy Express passenger van. It captivates you just the same way the sports cars do to the "normal" people. Once you've paid your dues then eventually you may get the chance to buy a that plain white van so everyone can ride comfortably and deck it out with a futon mattress and some posters to make it your own rolling club house. You'll quickly get used to freezing cold air or the smell of sweat and stink (and an empty gatorade bottle will become your new best friend...think about it). Even with all the uncomfortable situations and the freezing cold or blazing heat, you'll realize you're doing what you love and wouldn't trade it for the world.
