Sooooooo..... now the question is how dooo you breathe??
What do you do in order to breathe correctly?
Wellllll, the answer is on the floor.
That's right, on the floor! Lie flat on your back and put your thumbs on your bellybutton and take in a few deep deep deeeeeep breaths. Notice how your abdominal area rises as you breathe in and falls as you breathe out. This is the combining of what was discussed in the last blog- the combination costal and abdominal breathing! There is are a few reasons for why one is able to breathe correctly while lying on the back.........
1. The back is absolutely supported by the floor, which makes it hard for the shoulders and chest to move (what type of breathing would that be?)
2. When we were all babies, before we could walk and all we could do was crawl, drool, cry and drive our parents mad with sleep deprivation , we naturally breathed correctly, as in the way a singer should breathe. As we began to stand and begin to walk, we slowly lost our way....... and began to take on the method of clavicular or costal breathing
So... Breathe, Sweetheart! BREATHE!!!
Try this exercise out and tell me what you think!
